Women’s First Division Rugby League arrives at Fvg

The arrival of the women’s first division rugby league to Friuli Venezia Giulia. Indeed, a regional project, joint by five clubs, managed to combine more facts and register a team in the “women’s” oval championship.

Venjulia Rugby Trieste, Gorizia Rugby, Black Ducks Rugby Gemona, Rugby Pordenone and Juvenilia Bagnaria Arsa will share their memberships with the reality of Iulii Forum, a historical selection by invitation that always brings the best regional rugby under its wing. The Technical Manual of the Forum of the Iulii Female was entrusted to Bruno Iurkic of Trieste and Mirco Imperatori of Gorizia; While Juvenilia Bagnaria Arsa’s sports facility will be the operational headquarters for training and technical meetings.

Forum Iulii is included in Group 2 of Serie A with Rugby Riviera 1975 Asd, Montebelluna Rugby 1977 Asd, Valsugana Rugby Padova Asd (Cadetta), Forum Iulii Rugby FC Asd, Romagna RFC Ssd A RL, I Puma Bisenzio Rugby Asd.

The Women’s First Division League will start on October 9 and end on April 1/2, 2023. A promotion is scheduled at the “Women’s Concession”. The formula includes three regional groups, which are formed on a geographical basis. Group 1 with seven teams, Group 2 with six teams, Group 3 with six teams, with the Italian formula with home and away matches between the participants from each group (Article 30 of the Sports Activities Regulations).

The top seeded team from each of the three groups with the second best seeded (points/races average) from the three groups will advance to the semi-finals on March 19 and 26. The double-header winners enter the final in a single match on neutral ground on 1/2/April. The winner will be awarded the title of Women’s Serie A champion 2022/23 and will be promoted to the Women’s Championship of Excellence in the 2023/24 sports season.
